Faceasit, the Dien Chan app

I had already been collaborating closely with Prof. Bùi Quốc Châu for over ten years.

We spent almost two months a year together in France and Spain, often accompanied by one of his sons, who are still today in charge of the Saigon clinic.

Between each meeting, I would write, restructure and improve the teaching materials derived from his instruction. Hundreds of hours of training sessions, conversations and travels were recorded. Prof. Châu recorded everything: the seminars, the evening discussions, the long journeys between Galicia and Savoy… as if all this knowledge had to one day find another form of transmission.

In 2009, after years of work, the book L'ABC du Dien Chan was published by Grancher. To thank Prof. Châu for everything he had passed on to me, I decided to give him all the royalties.

But despite the book's success, something bothered me.

Dien Chan is a living, creative, evolving method. A book remained static. Yet in the reality of a consultation, the practitioner must think, adapt, connect information and build a personalised care plan.

I did not want to create a simple point catalogue.

I did not want to remake a digital book.

I wanted a genuine clinical assistant capable of helping practitioners think differently.

It was then, after the book's presentation in Paris, in the taxi taking us back, that I set out my idea to Prof. Châu: to create an application capable of organising the entire logic of Dien Chan and supporting the practitioner in their thinking.

After listening carefully, he replied simply: «I know nothing about computing… but if you manage to do it, it will be proof that you are my best student.»

Those words were a shock. And an immense challenge.

For four years, I went back over all my notes, listened again to the recordings, restructured the diagrams, tested search logics and tried to transform a decade of teaching into a genuinely creative and intuitive tool.

In 2013, Faceasit finally came to life.

It was not merely the first Dien Chan application on the AppStore. For many practitioners, it was above all a new way of working — more fluid, more coherent, more creative.

Faceasit was never conceived as a digital encyclopaedia.

The application was designed as a clinical thinking companion, capable of helping the practitioner to draw connections, find strategies and develop their capacity for adaptation with each person.

This is probably why so many former students and experienced therapists remain attached to it to this day.

A few months after its launch, Faceasit reached the top spot among natural health applications in Vietnam for over a month. Then, in 2018, the application received the Reflexology Innovation Award from the Reflexology Association of Canada.

But at heart, the most beautiful reward lies elsewhere: knowing that this tool helps practitioners the world over, every day, to continue keeping alive the original spirit of Dien Chan — a profoundly human, creative and modern art of care.

A Dien Chan care plan follows a three-stage logic: Assess · Locate · Treat.

The dialogue with the client allows a diagnosis to be built and whether the problem is expressed in a yin or yang way to be determined — decisive information for choosing the most appropriate multireflex tools.

— Preliminary local work:
Stimulate the bodily area concerned to promote receptiveness, boost microcirculation and engage the self-regulation process.

— Facial work:
Select the most suitable reflex diagram, detect the active points in the reflex zones, stimulate with the appropriate multireflex tool.

— Consolidation:
Compose or adapt a formula of precise bqc·points to energise the key anatomical structures, relying on Faceasit❜clinic to never be without a solution.

At the end of the session; our prescription:
Send the client the care diagram in reflex zones with two tool recommendations for home self-care. These «homework» tasks consolidate the care and deepen the next session.

A common confusion among beginner practitioners: mixing up the bqc·points derived from the assessment with those that define a reflex diagram.

In Dien Chan, the points of the diagrams are not necessarily the diagrams of the points. The bqc·points of a reflex diagram delimit a cartography and do not necessarily correspond to the problem assessed at the outset.

Faceasit clearly structures this distinction through its different sections: the assessment chapter offers a constellation of bqc·points directly linked to the problem, and the diagrams chapter allows the relationships between anatomy, diagrams and points to be explored in order to build multireflexological bridges.
The objective: to become a true architect of personalised care.

Faceasit❜clinic allows a personalised care diagram to be sent directly from the app by email. You choose to send the result in reflex zones (more accessible for the client's self-care) or in bqc·points if you are working with a practitioner or an advanced student.

You can enrich this email with personalised recommendations, advice on the multireflex tools to use, and any observation useful for support between two sessions.

Each client file is archived with the complete history of their progress, in compliance with GDPR.

Faceasit is a complex application that draws on years of development and a high level of demanding standards. The choice of the Apple ecosystem rests on a simple reason: long-term reliability.

On the AppStore, every application is inspected by human reviewers before publication. This level of control does not exist on Android stores, where no manufacturer guarantees consistency between its hardware and the evolution of the operating system.
